Panda Kopanda (Panda! Go Panda!) is a 30 minute movie made in 1972. Miyazaki created the original idea, the script, the layouts, and did key animation, and Takahata directed the film. The story is about a little girl, Mimiko, who was left alone while her Grandma was away. A 1973 sequel, Panda Kopanda: Amefuri Saakasu no Maki (Panda! Go Panda! & the Rainy-day Circus), continues the story and was made by the same people who made the first movie.

Ever since Kotoura Haruka was a little girl, she was able to read the minds of those surrounding her. And even though this gift may be special, in her life so far it only had devastating results: Her innocent babbling led to the divorce of her parents, who then left her with her grandfather. And in school Haruka loses all her friends, since none of them would or could admit the truths Haruka was able to so easily read in their minds. Haruka transfers to a new school, but has no hope of finding friends, and thus decides to keep quiet about her ability. That is, until she meets Manabe Yoshihisa, an imaginative slightly perverted boy, who becomes her first true friend, vowing to always stand by her side. Soon the enthusiastic Mifune Yuriko, president of the Paranormal Society (ESP) club, learns of Haruka's ability and vehemently invites her — literally dragging her off — to join the club. There the club's only other member, the under-tall, level-headed vice president Muroto Daichi welcomes her. Both Yuriko and Daichi readily accept Haruka... and for the first time she is happy, surrounded by friends, who do not treat her like a freak.

The story is a fictionalized version of Japan’s 89th prime minister, Junichirou Koizumi. In this political parody, Koizumi plays a special form of “mahjong diplomacy” against foreign adversaries such as George W. Bush, Kim Jong-il, Vladimir Putin, Margaret Thatcher, and others

Yuno has been accepted to her dream school: Yamabuki Arts High School. To attend the school, Yuno moves and starts to live in a small apartment building named the Hidamari Apartments located near the school. Abandoned by his parents and given a monumentally large debt as a Christmas present, 16-year old Ayasaki Hayate is at the lowest point of his life. Desperately trying alter his hapless fate, he decides to kidnap someone to hold for a ransom. Due to an ill choice of words, the girl he tries to kidnap misunderstands the action as a confession of love. His plan is totally crushed when he gives his real name out. Realizing his wrongdoing, Hayate proceeds to rescue the girl from the yakuza, who had instead kidnapped her. The girl, as a token of thanks, offers Hayate a job as her butler. Hayate, overwhelmed by her kindness, vows to protect her even at the cost of his life. 16-year-old Hayate is really down on his luck. His unemployed parents are good-for-nothings who waste the money they have on gambling. One day, his parents have racked up a huge gambling debt that they had to sell Hayate to the yakuza for the value of his organs. In a desperate attempt to avoid that fate, Hayate decides to become a “bad guy” and kidnap someone to be held for ransom, but his efforts to do so are mistaken as a confession of love by the girl he targets.

In 2223 AD, the migration of the human race into outer space started by the discovery of the Inflation Hall, that made faster-than-light travel possible. However, this important transportation system to the outer regions of space unexpectedly attracts an alien race called the Ghoul. The 18-year-old girl Misaki, who enlisted in Seraphim — the special unit established to prevent the invasion of the Ghoul — finishes training in the solar system, and travels to Watcher's Nest, her next training post. However, a Ghoul attacks Misaki before she reaches her destination, turning her into Morph. But Divergence EVE, shouldering the cursed fate of the Designer Children, keeps on fighting.
